Rustic Oak Furniture Finishes
Keeping your furniture in good condition comes down to really two things: keeping it clean and keeping it nourished. Because we use high quality, natural materials in our rustic solid oak furniture. All these things need to be treated with a bit more attention than cheap furniture from large mass produced furniture companies.
We use briwax furniture wax polish to Keep your rustic solid oak furniture looking its best, nourish the wood, and give it a protective sheen.
Danish oil brings out the beauty of the timber and gives a natural, open-grained, low-lustre finish. Easy to use put on oil and is suitable for all types of indoor furniture. Special ingredients in the Danish oil penetrate deep into both hard and softwoods, drying to a hard, durable and water-resistant finish.
We have made every effort to make the colours and finishes on screen as close as possible to the colours and finishes of the products. However, we cannot guarantee an exact match in colours and finishes and the images and information on this website should not be relied on as such. To get a better idea of colours we can send you samples.
For garden furniture, we use an oil for the outdoors, but remember garden furniture will require more maintenance if you want to keep its beautiful golden brown looks.
Customers are advised that as the drying process occurs, the natural tannins in the wood can be drawn out from the bottom of the table legs, and can stain some outdoor surfaces, such as light flagstones or paving. Gravel, Pebble or Grass surfaces are not affected.
Please be aware that these are our standard colours of choice, if the colour you would like is not here will endeavour to find the right colour for you.
Welcome to simply rustic oak
Our rustic furniture range is built to last and will give years of pleasure whether in your home, garden, or patio.
If you are looking for a bespoke, custom-made, eye-catching and durable table, then simply rustic oak is the ideal choice to have your furniture built to your specifications.
The mighty oak is one of the most spectacular looking hardwoods as well as being the most durable. Used for centuries in the construction of many of our most famous buildings, you will be very familiar with its qualities.
We particularly love the look of these old timbers and have set about using this natural look in our oak beam furniture, to this end many of our outdoor pieces are made from green oak, which basically means fresh sawn oak.
Each piece will naturally develop its own unique characteristics as it seasons over a period of years. Oak beams will develop splits, cracks or checking as they age. They do not affect the durability of the pieces, only add to the character.
I suppose the only way this place could be improved would be if the fire benefited from having a rustic oak fire surround or a coffee table that is supplied from a small company that deals with only the very best seasoned rustic oak wood.
Our oak beam furniture may arrive without any cracks or splits, this doesn't mean they will not occur over time, mainly within the first few weeks while it adjusts to the new temperature it is located in, at this time some shrinkage can also occur. This is all totally normal behaviour for oak beams. People ordering oak beam furniture must bare this in mind before purchasing, if really rustic is what you are after then this is for you.
